BIBLE STUDIES
Our text is the Bible, which we believe to be the
inerrant and inspired Word of God. It is our manual both for living
and for the work and ministry of the church.
Sunday School
Provides opportunities for Bible study each Sunday
at 9:15 am. Classes are available for all ages (from infants through
adults). Our goal is to provide an accurate understanding of God and what
He intends for our lives through the study of His Word.
Three-Fold Cord Men’s Bible Study (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
Three-Fold Cord Men’s Bible study is a small group Bible
study that currently meets every other Sunday evening at the church from 5-7 pm.
Right now the men are reading and discussing the book “Total Truth” by Nancy Pearcy.
This type of study is designed to help men build relationships, as well as to
support and strengthen each other while learning more about the Christian life.
Women of Purpose Bible Study (Titus 2:3-5)
The Women of Purpose Bible study is a small group Bible
study that currently meets every other Sunday evening at the church from 5-7 pm.
Right now the women are reading and discussing the book “Feminine Appeal
Sever Virtues of a Godly Wife and Mother” by Carolyn Mahaney. It is their goal
to develop friendships, support, and strengthen each other while learning more
about the Christian life.
Bilingual Bible Study
This Bible Study meets on Saturday evenings at 6:30 pm.
This Bible Study is conducted in both Spanish and English and is open to all
who are interested in attending. The Bible study will cover a variety of topics.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Offered during the summer for elementary age children. More information
about our Vacation Bible School is available through the church office in the Spring.
YOUTH (SOJOURN)
Sojourn is a combined youth group with youth from First Baptist as well as the
youth from Grace Baptist (our church plant in Elburn) that meets at the church on Sunday evenings from
5-7 pm. A typical Sojourn meeting will include: recreation, food, fun, and Bible study. During our
Bible study time the youth are divided into Junior and Senior High groups so that lessons can be
effectively prepared to meet the needs of the students.
We offer youth fellowships on a regular basis, youth retreats, and outings, all intertwined with
Bible study and life application. Young people learn the importance of missions outreach through
service projects involving needy, elderly and homebound individuals.
At First Baptist Church we understand the importance of offering support and encouragement to our
middle and high school age young people. Our goal is to stimulate the development of godly character
in an environment that is fun and inviting. We want to give our youth every opportunity to develop
friendships that will lift up and support at a time when they truly need each other thus fulfilling
the Apostle Paul's command to "bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ."
DEACON MINISTRY
The deacons seek to serve the church body through various areas of ministry.
A deacon is assigned to families through the Sunday Bible Study groups that meet on Sunday mornings.
The deacons serve the congregation and its individual families in order to better meet specific needs.
Please call on any deacon if you have need or questions.
FELLOWSHIP
Biblical fellowship is participating in the things of God with one another.
We also participate in sharing with each other through various social events such as picnics,
Sunday evening fellowships, and banquets. Consult the church calendar for scheduled events.
MISSIONS
Financial Support of SBC Missions Organizations
We support world missions through our unified budget by giving voluntarily through the Cooperative
Program. Over 7,600 full- time missionaries serving at home and abroad are supported. There are
nearly 62,000 yearly volunteers serving. Our gifts (along with many other Southern Baptist Churches)
provide the funds for their work. Four annual missions offerings are received: Home Missions,
Baptist Children's Home, State Missions and Foreign Missions. State, Associational and local ministries
provide opportunities for member involvement. We help support small churches and are involved in starting
new churches. Local mission work involving homeless and underprivileged people is also supported through
our missions budget.
Local Missions – Clothes Closet
"Clothes Closet" is one way that our Church takes a more hands-on roll with regard
to people in need. Our monthly clothing give-away is held on the first or second Monday of each month
September – June from 6:15 – 7:30 pm Donations of good, clean used articles are accepted on Fridays
between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm or other days (only as needed please) by appointment. If you need more
information please contact the church office.

also participates in sending and sponsoring members on a variety of missions trips with our local Fox
Valley Baptist Association. For more information or to find out how you can help please call the

We believe every Christian should be faithful to fulfill the Great Commission as
given by the Lord Jesus. One-on-one training is available and in-depth evangelism and discipleship
conferences are conducted periodically.
